Anna's Story
Last December, I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). After a bone marrow transplant in March of 2019, I had to spend one hundred days away from home to visit my medical team in Chapel Hill three times a week. Ninety of those hundred days were spent at SECU Family House.
As soon as I arrived at Family House, I felt like a weight was lifted from my mind.
Everyone was so encouraging. I was most relieved that my parents, who were staying with me, felt so comfortable and made plenty of friends with other guests and staff. I loved hearing from my folks about how much they enjoyed the meals each day or who had spent time chatting with them on the porch each evening. Thank you, SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals.
