Individual Opportunities

There are many ways to support Family House and make a difference in the lives of the guests staying here. Below are some of our ongoing needs for individual volunteers.

The minimum age for our individual volunteer positions is 14 years old.
If you are under 14 and would like to volunteer, please check out our Family Service Opportunities page. Thank you!

Front Desk Support

Volunteers support the House Manager with check-in/check-out and also act as a concierge desk for guests. They answer phones, enter referrals into our software system, check families in and out of their rooms, orient new families to Family House and answer questions about everything from room rates to transportation options.

Due to training requirements, a six-month commitment to on-going, regular volunteering is required for Front Desk volunteers.

Laundry Folding

Volunteers gather together each week to fold linens laundered by our housekeeping staff. Family House has an industrial washer and dryer that allow us to do our laundry in-house, but with 40 rooms and growing, we need lots of help folding the sheets, towels and comforters that guests use during their stay.

Kitchen Attendant

Volunteers will clean the kitchen that includes loading/ unloading dishwashers, wiping down tables, replenishing room boxes and organizing refrigerator and freezer items on a weekly basis.

Meal Program Host

We have groups of volunteers who come to make a meal at Family House 5 nights a week. This position helps to welcome, orient, and “check in” meal providers and performers who come to Family House each night. They ensure that meal providers have all the information and materials they need to serve guests; including an awareness of Family House mission as well as policies and procedures.

Music & Arts Program Host

Many nights of the week, Family House schedules volunteers to come perform music or organize other fun events for guests to engage with after dinner. This position helps to welcome, orient, and “check in” performers who come to Family House each night. They ensure that volunteers have all the information and materials they need to serve guests; including an awareness of Family House mission as well as policies and procedures.

Special Events Committee Member (seasonal)

We have a number of special events throughout the year that are a team effort between staff and volunteer committee members, including:

Fall Gala
Spring Golf Tournament
