Ali Fromme, SECU Family House Board Chair

Dear Friends,

I am pleased to announce that after a national search and thorough selection process, Kelly Thompson has accepted our offer to be Family House’s next Executive Director. At the end of this comprehensive process, Kelly rose to the top of a highly talented pool of candidates for the breadth of her experience and passion for working in nonprofit organizations. Kelly has a wealth of experience that she will bring to Family House to help us take our community on the next phase of our journey.

Kelly Thompson, incoming SECU Family House Executive Director

Kelly is a nonprofit executive with over 15 years of experience leading organizations through cultural shifts and capacity building efforts through strategic planning, staff transitions, board governance, and community engagement initiatives. Her background includes almost 10 years of experience leading a hospitality house through a major expansion in Illinois, and most recently she has served as the executive director for a nonprofit organization in the Triangle area. She received her master’s degree from University of Illinois and her bachelor’s degree from University of Missouri. She holds certifications as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and Certified Association Executive (CAE). Kelly’s interests include volunteering, hiking, traveling, and spending time at the beach and the mountains of North Carolina. She has two children, a son who attends UNC Gillings School of Public Health, and a daughter who is a senior at NC State University. Her partner Ron, and her golden retriever, Summer, are her faithful hiking companions at Umstead State Park. Kelly is an avid Carolina Hurricanes fan, and she loves to attend concerts throughout the region.

Kelly’s appointment marks a tremendous and bittersweet moment in Family House’s history.  She will succeed Janice McAdams, who has faithfully served us for ten highly successful years. Janice’s impact on our community is immeasurable and enduring; we are grateful that her stewardship has led us to this exciting new chapter.

The Board believes that Kelly will be a highly competent and confident steward of our mission and is excited to have her join us as our next Executive Director on Tuesday, September 5 when Janice and Kelly will begin working together on the transition. We look forward to partnering with Kelly to continue to make Family House an even more exceptional community.

Please join me in warmly welcoming Kelly and in my optimism for this next chapter in our history.

On behalf of the Board,

Ali Fromme
SECU Family House Board Chair
