Guest Spotlight — Jonathan Neely

We had the pleasure of meeting recent Family House guest, Jonathan Neely.  He was staying here with his sister, Shanea, and her son, Kevin, while their dad, Sidney, was being treated at UNC Hospitals for heart failure.  A retired paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, Sidney was doing well, post-surgery, and looked forward to returning to his Fayetteville home.

Pleased with the care Sidney was receiving from a team of cardiologists that included Joseph Rossi, Director of UNC’s Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, Jonathan, Shanea and Kevin were able to start and end each day with nourishing meals here while spending the daytime with their dad.

Jonathan shared that “everybody is dealing with their own issues here.  As soon as I walked in, the staff and volunteers were very kind and friendly.  Not just that, my family has been very comfortable, and the shuttle to and from the hospital has been very convenient.”

With the strength of his family around him, Sidney—who’s already lived a remarkable 83 years—is on the road to recovery and, we imagine, will enjoy dancing to his heart’s content.
