You Can Help Our Mission on #GivingTuesday 12/1/2020!

Can you believe it's almost here? Giving Tuesday 2020 is December 1, 2020!

Often stylized as #GivingTuesday, this annual event occurs on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States. It's a movement to create an international day of charitable giving following the commercialism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Family House's mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and affordable home for people traveling from all 100 counties of North Carolina and beyond to Chapel Hill to receive life-saving medical care. When you give to our organization, you are gifting respite, shelter, nurturance, and therapeutic support to the more than 2,300 guests we serve every year.

In 2018, our first year participating in #GivingTuesday, we created a Facebook fundraiser with a goal to raise $500. A modest ask on our part, turns out, as Family House Facebook followers donated $1,815 to our Annual Fund! Facebook doesn't impose processing fees on these donations, ensuring that 100% of these gifts covered our daily operating costs, helping keep our guest rooms affordable for the UNC Health patients and caregivers staying here.

We hope you consider giving to Family House on Tuesday, December 1 through Facebook or on our website. Gifts of appreciated assets such as stocks can generate significant tax savings for donors. Please call Kathy Yasui-Der at 919.932.8004 to discuss ways you can make such a gift.

You might also want to widen your impact by creating your own fundraiser on Facebook - super simple to do - by following the steps at www.facebook.com/fund/FamilyHouseChapelHill/

Donors who participate in online giving days like #GivingTuesday often represent younger, less established audiences than are the donors typically engaged by community foundations. We're thrilled to connect with these compassionate supporters where they spend so much time engaging and giving back: online! And to our long-time donors: thank you for being life-changing members of the Family House family.
