We have just learned that SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals has won the 2018 Outstanding Philanthropic Organization Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals - Triangle Chapter. It's safe to say that we at Family House are all abuzz with excitement!

"The NPD Awards Selection Committee received many nominations, and it was a tough decision," shares Marie Boubane, member of the AFP's Nominations Committee. "One of the highest forms of praise is to be recognized by your colleagues and peers, and [Family House's] work is certainly worthy of that distinction." The Outstanding Philanthropic Organization Award is given annually to the non-profit, religious, or other organization best demonstrating consistent investments in the community and/or innovative and impactful approaches to solving community problems.

Family House Executive Director Janice McAdams and Director of Development Martha Aldridge are joining other honorees at the 2018 National Philanthropy Day on November 15, 2018 to accept the award on behalf of Family House and our family of volunteers, donors, guests, staff, and supporters. National Philanthropy Day (NPD) is a celebration of philanthropy hosted by AFP that "highlights the contributions that our neighbors who are active in philanthropy have made to our lives, our communities and our world." National Philanthropy Day was originally organized by Douglas Freeman in the 1980s. The first official events were held in 1986, when U.S. President Ronald Reagan signed the official NPD proclamation. The day celebrates the selfless contributions individuals and organizations make to countless causes and missions around the world.
