CHSL LOGOWe are incredibly fortunate that many groups in the Chapel Hill area and beyond contribute to SECU Family House on a regular basis. Their giving takes on many forms: preparing meals for our guests; collecting items from our Wish List; deep cleaning our kitchen; organizing our pantries; making monetary donations; sharing our story with their church groups; and so much more. Ever mindful of giving back, our volunteers take action in the most meaningful and most impactful of ways.

The Chapel Hill Service League VolunteersSuch is the case with the Chapel Hill Service League. Since we opened our doors more than ten years ago, they’ve regularly contributed to our hospitality house in numerous ways. In 2008, their New Member class organized our kitchen before our first guests arrived. They continue their compassionate commitment in 2018 as regular meal providers.

Recently, the Chapel Hill Service League collected several immediately needed items for our pantry. Led by Jill Conrad, Liaison Co-Chair of Sustainers and Life Members, they were greeted by Carolyn Fuller, our Director of Annual Giving and Claire Veazey, our Director of Volunteer Services. Jill is no stranger to Family House, as she has also led garden and craft groups here over the years.

We are immensely grateful to the Chapel Hill Service League for their long and sustaining commitment to us. True to their mission “to serve our community through positive, high impact projects,” as they headed out that day, they shared that they’ll be organizing another pantry collection for us next spring.
