Volunteer Spotlight: Helping Hands

0 Comment(s) | Posted

VolunteersRising high school seniors Sydney Simpson-Vos and Lindsay Kivel wanted to give back to the community. So they started a club at nearby Jordan High School and called it “SECU Helping Hands.” After some back-and-forth discussions with Aimee Jones, our Volunteer Services Assistant, they created a GoFundMe page and so far have raised just over $500 for our operating fund.

And that’s not all these Jordan Falcons are doing for us! This past spring, in the midst of the pandemic, they continued to brainstorm ways their club can support our hospitality house into the next school year. We can’t wait to see what they come up with.

Helping others is not new to Sydney and her family. Her parents, Mark and Juliellen, are part of the Min Family group of regular meal providers. Up until the pandemic, they were providing monthly Saturday meals for our guests and have since provided funds for take-out orders while our Guest Kitchen is being renovated. We're truly grateful for their compassionate service and young leadership!
