Volunteer Spotlight: Royster Society of Fellows

Royster Society of FellowsOn a recent fall evening, a group of graduate students from UNC-Chapel Hill’s Royster Society of Fellows prepared a marvelous dinner for our guests. Led by Sehrish Javaid, a doctoral student in the School of Dentistry and a graduate student in the Department of Pharmacology (pictured here in the middle with the black sweater), these volunteers created a taco bar that included fixin's of fresh vegetables and meats.

When we ask our guests what it means for them to stay at Family House, they always share how thankful they are for the great meals that are served by our meal providers.  Not having to think about where their next meal is coming from is one less thing for them to have to think about and it allows them to instead, to concentrate on getting well and to spend more time with their loved ones.

Research shows that eating a well-balanced diet benefits one’s mental, physical, and emotional health. We at Family House are grateful to the Royster Society of Fellows and to our many meal providers for feeding our guests’ bodies and souls nearly every day of each week.
